CBO is an independent professional organization established in 1961. CBO stands in the Dutch language for Centrum voor Bedrijfsontwikkeling,

CBO’s methodological approach is based on quantitative analyses and multidisciplinary syntheses of relevant technological, economic and social elements, which influence the development process at enterprise as well as more aggregate levels. Within and between the various levels interactions occur continuously. CBO broadened its work scope accordingly to cover both enterprise– as well as macrostructures-orientated activities. This evolution is reflected in its English name  CBO Management and Technology Systems Centre.

Contributing—through an experiences academic trained staff and in a quantitative analytic-creative manner—to above described process of development (Dutch: “ontwikkeling”) serves as the basic guideline for CBO’s activities.

CBO operates internationally. Its general secretariat is located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
